Need More Reasons to Fight Racists?

Again, if you're in the Bay Area, please come to the meeting tonight about organizing against the Minuteman Project. 

In doing research and trying to stay on top of developments around the issue of immigration, I've come across a lot of troubling information that I was unaware of, targeting both immigrants and those who support them.  So in case you needed more reasons to fight back against likes of the Minutemen, the politicians who love them and the kops who support and protect them, here are a few:

• In November of last year, Proposition 200 passed in Arizona.  This requires a proof of citizenship in order to access public services.  No proof?  I guess they'll let you die instead of helping you out.
• The passage of Prop. 200 has opened a floodgate of anti-immigrant legislation and initiatives.  In Arizona alone there are 18 anti-immigrant bills in the state legistlature.  Colorado, Arkansas, Alabama and Georgia are considering initiatives that target immigrants.
• California State Rep. Ray Haynes and the group Rescue California that orchestrated the recall of Gray Davis, are putting an initiative on the 2006 ballot that would create a state border police and go after businesses that hired "illegal" immigrants.
• The Border Patrol is looking into Minuteman-style civilian patrols of the border with Mexico.
• The head of the largest Border Patrol Agent union resigned in April to go work with the Minuteman Project.
• And of course, CA's Goveracist has nothing but praise for the armed vigilante groups.

On the targeting of activists:

• One of the people hit by a van driven by a Minuteman supporter at a demonstration began organizing a legal defense committee for those protesters arrested by police at the same demo.  The police reaction?  To charge her with a crime and raid her home, ostensibly looking for a stolen flashlight  and forcing her to organize her own defense committee.
  
• In Baldwin Park, several demonstrations have been held by the racist group Save Our State.  They're flustered about a sculpture that indicates white people are not native to America.  Every time they protest, they are met with a large community response.  The Baldwin Park City Council has responded itself by passing a measure requiring a permit for any gathering of more than 35 people.  This doesn't affect the Save Our State racists, as they never get more than 35 people, but it does affect the counterdemonstrators whose numbers are in the hundreds.  (Thanks Bombs and Shields)

The list can go on and on.  Remember that the wars being waged by the right have many fronts and we need to counter their agenda on all of them.  Thanks to the National Network for Immigration and Refugee Rights for a bunch of the info in this post.

there is nothing racist about wanting to stop illeagl immiragtion. legal imiragtion is fine, and it should be made more accessible but illegales should be stopped.

Unbelievable, an actual self confessing anarchist! I thought they were smart enough to keep their heads down. Anarchy, meaning having no government is chaos, crime and disorder taking over from safety and a chance of happiness. There has never been a nation under anarchy, and anarchy has only existed in transition between real governments. For example to overthrow your current government and replace it with a new type, (communism being your choice by the sound of you)you need to rebel and create ANARCHY.
