Some of you may have heard of an organization called The Israel Project. Their sole purpose is to convene focus groups, largely of prominent young scholars, and figure out the best way to get them to accept The Israel Project's point of view about the Israel/Palestine conflict, and then act on it.
They even put out a really fancy booklet late last year explaining just how they are going to manipulate America's "future leaders" to stop believing the Arab side (or, god forbid, feel America should be neutral!) and to support Israel. I just read my copy of it the other day. Some sketchy stuff.
In preparation for the elections in the Occupied Territories, TIP put out a Guide to the 2006 Palestinian Authority Elections. But if you look at the photo that they use, one has to question if they really have any understanding as to what is going on.
The photo is a poorly copied version of an Electronic Intifada photo. Nothing really wrong with it, except it is from the 2005 PA Presidential election and has no connection to the 2006 elections.
What's up with that? Seems to fit TIP's agenda of ignoring reality and propagating myths instead. Lucky for them they've got a fat budget and some very well-connected friends. Take a look at their Board of Advisors:
- Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-GA
- Sen. Norm Coleman, R-MN
- Sen. Bill Nelson, D-FL
- Sen. Rick Santorum, R-PA
- Sen. Arlen Spector, R-PA
- Sen. Ron Wyden, D-OR
- Rep. Rob Andrews, D-NJ
- Rep. Shelley Berkley, D-NV
- Rep. Tom Davis, R-VA
- Rep. Eliot Engel, D-NY
- Rep. Frank Pallone, D-NJ
- Rep. Jon Porter, R-NV
- Rep. Jim Saxton, R-NJ
- Rep. Brad Sherman, D-CA
- Rep. Joe Wilson, R-SC
- Ron Silver, Actor & Director
If those in the U.S. government are listening to groups like TIP, is it any wonder their foreign policy is so wrong?
no one who matters takes t.i.p. seriously. for god's sake, they hired frank luntz to analyze pro-israel marketing messages and his end-conclusion was that the materials aren't lying well enough.
