Don't act like you haven't seen that video.
Anyway, on the domestic news front, my partner and I got a kitten from the shelter for her birthday this weekend. She's four months old, a former feral, and very cute. We've decided to name her Lucy, after Lucy Parsons (fitting for May Day, no?) and the Aesop Rock song "No Regrets," about a girl named Lucy. [download] [lyrics]
She's still in isolation in our bathroom. And while I'm fiddling with my camera, here are a couple shots from May Day. The first is the early cacerolazo march reaching the main rallying point. The second is of someone burning one of the RCP's red flags that they were selling and trying to create a "Red Flag Contingent."
In unrelated news, the Zapatistas have proclaimed a red alert after the police killed at least one protester, a 14-year-old, in Mexico City.
What, is that an anarchist burning the red flag. If so, that is shameful. The red flag is a flag of the working people. Only the banner of US imperialism deserves to be burned in such a manner.

It was a red flag being distributed by the Revolutionary Communist Party and as such it was fine to burn it.

it kind of makes you an asshole.
The RCP was handing out red flags specifically to appeal to internationalist sentiment in the face of the American flag?
You're shocked that they were selling them? Why? They cost money.
...and the best this angry white kid can do is light them on fire?
Burning red flags on mayday.
What bravery.

What, exactly, makes me an asshole?
Obviously, as I can tell from your blog, you feel strongly about red flags, though apparently less strongly about following your own "rules of the road" when commenting on someone else's blog.
There are a few other problems with, well, every aspect of your comment. In case you didn't notice, this blog is called "Angry White Kid," written by me - a white person - and the person burning the flag is black. Therefore, "the best this angry white kid can do is light them on fire?" doesn't make any sense.
Second, May 1 was a strike and boycott, with the slogan "no selling, no buying." Did the RCP get an exemption from that? I don't think so. And neither did any of the other groups that were to selling their papers, books, etc.
And finally, as adorable as it is that the white-led RCP was trying to show the immigrant and migrant-dominated May Day march how to appeal to internationalist sentiment, it's also patronizing, co-optive, racist, etc.

First, you're lying, the RCP doesn't sell flags only literature. Anyhow yes groups which are raising money for the movement are allowed to sell things because they are raising money for the movement.
You're sick. You're a secterian piece of shit buring a red flag on mayday. its disgusting and you sit there and allow the countless American flags being sold and carried to be there while the red flag is burned. You're fucking scab piece of shit

oh yeah and its funny as fuck that you claim the RCP is white led. Tell that to Carl Dix

Hahaha! Oh man, I think pissing off Maoists is more fun than pissing of right-wingers.
Clearing up a few things: Yes, on May Day in San Francisco in 2006, the RCP was selling red flags. My friend, who is in the RCP, was one of those selling them. Why would I make that up?
Also, raising money for the RCP is not the same as raising money for "the movement." The RCP and "the movement" are not even close to being the same thing.
And, as I pointed out to your RCP comrade who commented earlier (can't you guys pay attention?): "In case you didn't notice, this blog is called 'Angry White Kid,' written by me - a white person - and the person burning the flag is black. Therefore, 'You're a secterian piece of shit buring a red flag on mayday' doesn't make any sense."
Finally, who's in charge of the RCP - Carl Dix or Dear Leader Bob Avakian? What's the composition of the RCP membership? Your comment is nothing more than tokenism.

okay,
a) who the fuck would buy a flag to burn it? Its a rule that you steal flags to burn them
b) if they did sell it, so damn what? A party which is devoted to fighting for immigrant and workers rights is raising money. What I find sick is that you use the boycott as justification for burning the flag of the working class, and at the same time there are fucking american flags being sold in carts all over the place, even one in the picture.
c) RCP is completely mixed racially. There are black, white, hispanic, asian, west indian people of all races and cultures in the RCP the central committee reflects that.
d) you're obviously supporting what that guy is doing that's why you're covering his face like a fucking piece of shit. Only people I know who support actions like that are scab pieces of shit like you
e) Mao was an anarchist as a little kid, then he fucking grew up.
